Default Messenger/Audi

I need some help understanding where the BES server is and how it all works re Messenger. I've read that the administrator can turn on an audit function for messenger. I assume that requires a BES and not a BIS. If my blackberry manages email, is it right to assume there is a BES involved? Where is it, at Verizon or sitting in my company? I think it is highly unlikely that my company is asking for audit reports. But can I figure that out for sure? Can I tell if my berry is backing up my messages? Since my berry can download third party IM services, etc., I really doubt anyone has considered auditing messaging, but I would really like to know for sure. How can I know for sure? Thanks much!!!!

Default Messenger/Auditing

Some more information - I've now read that if the audit function is turned on, the user will see a sent mail for each audit report. Is that true? Also, I have read that the report only sends information of any live conversations going on at the time, and not closed ones. The RIM docs say that with auditing on, the device will back up all messaging converations and send them in. But that does not appear to be the case, based on what I am reading.

your company can only audit if you're on a BES.
