We just upgraded our BB users from 7100i's with Nextel to 8130's with Sprint, using BES 4.1.3.18.

Several users have noticed that email syncing lags. New mail arrives quickly enough (typically within 30 seconds of when it shows up in Outlook), but other status changes -- such as deleting a message from the inbox or reading a message don't show up on the BB until much later. It does eventually sync up, within 10 minutes or so. Or, if a new message arrives, the other status changes sync up at the same time.

It is hard to compare for sure, but several people here think that with the 7100i's, the status changes synced almost immediately just like the new mail. Is that possible? It seems like this would be a function of the BES and not dependent on the BlackBerry model or Sprint vs. Nextel.

Email reconciliation can take up to 20 minutes to happen automatically. It's not a threshold that can be configured either.

Essentially it depends on when the BES rescans the mailbox. A mailbox needs to have no activity for 15-20 minutes, then the BES will scan it to ensure that it didn't miss anything. At that point any message property updates like read/moved/deleted are made.

This is how email reconciliation works. You cannot change it, the users will ask if that's possible.

Let them know that up to 10 minutes is perfectly normal. Email reconciliation is not instantaneous and isn't designed to be.
