Default BES 3.6 SBE Exchange 5-User CAL

Please Login to Remove!

Need an additional 5-User CAL for my 3.6 SBE Exchange Server, and found the following:

Part Number/Model PRD02414013
New RIM Blackberry Enterprise Server 3.6
for Microsoft Exchange License (5-User CAL)

Offering it for a good price, the problem is the Part Number matches up to the part number for BES 3.5 5-User CAL.

Would this work with my 3.6 Server?

I tried contacting RIM, but they won't talk to me unless I have a support agreement (imagine that...I want to buy something, and they won't help me...DANG! Sorry to inconvenience you!)

Any help would be appreciated.

The company I work for is upgrading from version 3.6 SBE to ver 4 Enterprise and they were discussing selling our 6 cals to SBE (we will not need them anymore.)

Send me a private message if you want more information.

How many user licences are you up to?

We are on our original 5 that the BES SBE came with.

Probably never going to exceed the 15 that SBE is limited to.

I found the following statement from jibi in this forum:

"I'd say that its Small Business BES and not Enterprise edition. BES 3.x licenses work just fine with 4.0 - they all start out as bes_35 (where _ is the type of BES; x for Exchange, for example). "

This leads me to believe that not only are 3.5 CAL's good for 3.6, but they are also good for 4.0.

Any comments on this statement? Has anyone applied a 3.6 or a 3.5 CAL to a 4.0 server?

"Tried to add it and found that out"???

I have not purchased the additional 5-User CAL. Maybe I was unclear on that. The product number of the product I desire to purchase seems to be the product number of the 3.5 BES SBE Exchange CAL. My question is: Will a 3.5 BES SBE Exchange CAL work with a 3.6 BES SBE Server? I don't want to purchase this set of 5-CAL's only to find out it is not compatible with my server, even though the Company is selling it as a 3.6 5-User CAL.

Don't worry, CAL paks are universal. I just recently applied over 1000 CAL's from our 3.6 to 4.0 with no issues.
