Default Collecting data from BESMgmt database / Populating CMDB - 06-13-2008, 01:23 PM

Hi everyone, hope your Friday the 13th is going well.

We are looking at implementing the Frontrange ITSM / CMDB product here, being that i am the sole BES Admin I have been tasked with finding a way to automatically populate the CMDB (on an ongoing basis) with BES / Blackberry specific information.

Has anyone successfully done this? I was thinking of running SQL queries to collect the informaton (to bypass the cumbersome BES software reporting), but I was hoping I could get some real world feedback.

As always, your input is greatly appreciated.

J

Change Management Database...ugg...ITIL requirement.

Basically a database that is cosntantly updated with information and ties into our Change Management program. If someone changes their firmware... or new blackberry the database would be updated and we would be notified.

Yay ITIL!

Create some triggers on fields in the database; that'll do it for you.

Realizing that every time you make a change in BES (database schema that is) you'll probably have to redo these custom creations.
