We just deployed a new BES with 20 Nextel 7520's. Our users are complaining, and I have the same problem, that occasionally their Blackberry will freeze up. You can be in any application or screen and the device becomes unresponsive for upwards of a minute. Someone from Nextel said there was a setting somewhere, but then did not follow up with specific info.
Another agency that we work with recently deployed a similar setup. The only difference is we have Exchange and they run Groupwise as their email. They claim no pauses or freezes. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how we can mitigate these pauses?
Freezing up, and then thawing after the freeze. They do not lock up or require a power cycle. Today I picked it up, went to make a call. I pressed the dial, went into the phone app and then freeze. I checked the upper right corner for the activity indicators. No arrows, then about 15 secs later I got some arrow activity, then nothing, then everything came back. If you press buttons or scroll the wheel, when it thaws it catches up with what you've pressed, sometimes with odd outcomes. This is happening on ALL of the Blackberries that we've deployed. And I expect the number of BB's in our district to grow three fold as soon as school is back in session. Seeing how it happens on all the BB's, it would tend to point strongly towards the BES in some way for this delay.
For the non Bes users try rebooting the device. If no good then consider reloading the handhelds Operating System. Do you have any specific apps that are running that are using resources or are you receiving massive emails ?
nope nothing but messenger, BBlight running on my unit. It doesnt happen at any specific time or when I am doing any specific thing. I did a wipe of my unit less than 5 days ago it was happening before and its still happeneing.
