n00b admin question
I came in on this setup right after the guy that normally does this goes out of town for a 2 week conference so I'm stuck and in need of professional help.
I had to add 2 new users to our BES. The new 7290's came in and we added them from our server to the BES but where it shows the other users it has their PIN number beside their name. The 2 we added today do not show a PIN, instead it shows a "0" and out to the far right it shows "Initializing". It has been showing this for a few hours now. I never saw where I was supposed to enter a PIN.
Can someone tell me what step I missed in getting their 7290 hooked up? I'm sure I did everything right I just may have missed a step or two or maybe need to do something that I was not shown.
I would greatly appreciate it if some of you guru admins could walk me through this as I'm sure these upper level executive types would like their 7290's to be working.

The PIN will show up when you connect them to the BB desktopmanager on their PCS and genereate new encryption keys or if you have 4.0 BES and 4.0 on the device, you can set up an Enterprise activation password from the properties of their account on the BES and do an Enterprise Activation from their devices. Enter the email address and password you set up on the device and activate from the Enterprise activation icon.
Is this BES 3.6 or BES 4? What mail system do you use?
Proceedure should be as follows. This part is the same for BES 3.6 and 4.0:
1. Add user to BES. Status should be 'initialising' with a pin of 0.
2. Open desktop manager. It should say 'online' down the bottom.
3. Plug in BB to desktop. On the manager, click tools/connection settings. Select USB and click detect, then OK twice.
4. Manager should now show 'this device is not associated with this user, do you wish to associate it?' Click Yes. It will ask to generate a security key, click ok and move the mouse around till it finishes.
At this point, on the BES your user should now have the PIN of the device associated with your user. Now you can synch your contacts/calendar over ect ect.
Guys that sounds wonderful! I'll jump on that first thing in the morning when I get back in the office. They will be pleased to get set up so quickly and you guys make me look good <wink wink>. I'll be sure to pass along that this forum helped me out as we have many users and some of them may want to jump on here for information.
I figured it was just something I failed to do in the set up process. Thanks a bunch guys.
