Angry 7750 4.0 upgrade problem missing "Internet Browser" - 08-12-2005, 12:31 PM

I did an upgrade for a user the other day, installed 4.0 desktop and 4.0 handheld software, running on BES 4.0. i have done this same process at least 30 times. this time however after the loooooooooong process this user only has the "Blackberry Browser" on his handheld, the "Internet Browser" is no where to be found. This is a problem because for some reason everyones "Blackberry Browser" stopped working the other day.(But that will be another post!) Anyway is that any reason that the "Internet Browser" wasnt installed during the update? How do i manually install "Internet Browser" or is there some way i can get him internet on this piece of junk?

ps -if you have any ideas why everyones "Blackberry Browser" would stop working that would be great also

Have you checked to make sure Mobile Data Service is still running?

I posted this yesterday in a different thread. Hope it helps!

Just got off the phone with BB support (nextel 7520) - The reason I had no new browser was because I had an older version of the BB software: 4.0.0.16. I had to download/install/upgrade to 4.0.0.249, then do options - HRT - register now, then options - security - master radio reset.

I have checked and rechecked, and stopped and started the MDS but still nothing. I did find this article though about the "blackberry Browser" not working, i think we fixed that! Basically it was because we are running Websense and PIX: Now to fight with the network guys to make some firewall settings

On busy networks, the lookup response from the Websense Filtering Service may not reach the PIX Firewall before the response arrives from the Web server. If the HTTP response buffer in the PIX Firewall is not large enough to store Web server responses while waiting for a filtering decision from the Filtering Service, the request may be dropped by PIX.

heres the article from Websense: http://ww2.websense.com/global/en/Su...ay.php?faq=766

I will try dl the newer version of blackberry software to get the "internet browser" back , thanks

is this 7750 with Verizon?

The "internet browser" is provided by the service provider via service books.

To my knowledge, Verizon 7750s do not get these service books.
