I have a user that has personal contacts on their blackberry that they don't want to lose or sync with their exchange account. If I set the PIM Sync for the address book to false, will their contacts not sync during activation? just want to make sure nothing happens to their contacts. any help would be great.

On the device, turn wireless reconciliation for address book off.
On BES, don't list the user's outlook Address Book on their account settings.

You can then activate, and nothing will happen to the address book data on the BB.
Advise the user that although their personal BB contacts won't synch with outlook, their outlook contacts won't be available on BB.



You should tell the user to regularly backup their BB though, via Desktop Manager. Otherwise, a lost/stolen/dead device means the BB personal data is lost...
