Default Multiple GAL's - Does the BES support this?

Please Login to Remove!

Does the BES properly support restricted GAL's based on Exchange permissions? For example, we'll likely have 4 seperate GAL's on our Exchange 2007 server, and access will be controlled based on 4 different security groups. It'll basically be like having 4 separate companies on one Exchange server.

There will only be one BES. My assumption is that when you do a lookup from your Blackberry, the BES uses your credentials rather than the BESAdmin account to perform the request. Is that correct? If so, this, in theory, should work.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Matt

BES can only use one GAL; whichever is its default GAL. a default GAL is:

The largest GAL that an account is a member of that it has permissions to access.

If you want to do this hosted type model review the installation guide and search for hosted where it lets you limit searches on a BB to only specific users.

Default Maultiple GALs, BES Admin Account can't see all the users

Hi Guys

We also have a Exchange 2007 implementation.

We have been using this white paper, White Paper: Configuring Virtual Organizations and Address List Segregation in Exchange 2007 available at Microsoft Technet, to create our Exchange with multiple Global Address Lists and users within to Virtual Organizations and Address List Segregation

We are now faced with another challenge. We need to create one user with a mailbox that would be able to see ALL Virtual Organisations and Global Address Lists for typically the BES Admin account. The problem i guess is permissions, but we are not sure where and how to apply.

Any help would be appreciated !

The problem is, is that we are trying to use the Blackberry Manager application to add users to the BES application in order for wireless enterprise activation but the BES Admin account cannot see all users in all Global Address Lists due to the seperate address lists.

Hence, I need the user to be looking from the "top" down at all the GALS and ALs.

Hope that makes sense !

Regards

G
