Default About updating BES3.6 to BES4.0

Please Login to Remove!

I am using BES3.6 in an old server currently, and going to imgrant it to BES4.0 in a new server. And I have bought the BES4.0 One-time update software, and plan to install it to a new server. So, what should I do before I do the updating?

Should I just backup the database and export the server information?

Does the "one-time update software" let you install in a brand new server while your old one is running? How does that work?

I think the one-time update simply allows him the ability to download the software from RIM. I don't think their network differentiates between 3.x and 4.0 SRPs or CALs.

yingying, please do a search here for the upgrade procedures. I think we've all pretty much mapped out 10 different ways or more to upgrade to 4.0 and the various methods you can take or not take. Your version may not have been covered, but its the same general idea.

One time update wont allow a new install, you'd have to install 3.6 on the new server, patch it to at least sp3 then run the onetime update to 4.0.
