Post Synchronization Issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, firstly apologize for the basic question as Iam no expert in Blackberry but trying hard to become one..We have a little synchronizing problem in our environment where mails are opened in Lotus Notes and they are marked as open but they stillshow as unread on blackberry. It affects all users and wondering if there is any general setting on the Blackberry server or on Domino server to change this.

Did you check the settings on the device? Look under Messages>Options>Email Reconciliation. There is an option called Delete On and Wireless Reconciliation, make sure those are set correctly.

I don't think anyone in the world has a definitive fix for unread marks in notes/BB

Have you tried searching, and reading some previous threads on this??

It's also hard to comment further without knowing your setup. Are your servers clustered? What are your domino and bes versions?

Hi, the users mail file resides on a clustered server . The Domino version is 6.5.4 and the BES version is 4.0.3.3

Righteo. Are your DB properties set to replicate unread marks across all servers?

When did you set that DB property?

Yes, it matters. If the user works locally in notes, that is where their unread marks will be changed when reading mail.
Their BBs can only talk to a server replica - not local.
So if this DB property was not set, then the unread marks will never "synch" between BB and notes (as they are explicitly talking to different replicas which do not push the changes over).

So... did you just change this option? Or has it been set for some time?
And is it set consistently (this setting does not always replicate if set on one copy of a mailfile)

[Another point to note - when you turn on "replicate unread marks across - all servers" it will start working going FORWARD but will not reconcilie the unread marks of existing mail between replicas]

Also, would again advise searching the BES Admin Corner for "unread marks domino"
You'll get a lot of articles back, but they might have some info you find useful, for example

Veteran Domino BES admins - please read
Sync Problem Read/Unread messages
BlackBerry Search Results
BES/ Domino/Notes 6.5.3 - emails 'read' or 'unread'

Could you just confirm that your BB devices are all running software version 4 upwards?

thanks for the reply.I have set the db properties late evening yesterday and I checked in all copies of local and server and its set to replicate unread marks to all servers. All the BB devices are running version 4 upwards only . I have also asked user to try working on the server copy of his mail file and then check on the BB device but results were negative

a) Do you run regular housekeeping tasks on your BES domino files (e.g. state DBs) such as fixup/compact/updall?

b) Do unread marks synch if you do a cabled Synchronisation in Desktop Manager?

Thanks for the reply. No, we dont do any regular housekeeping tasks for the state db . We do a fixup only if we notice a corruption in State DB. I will also try for a desktop synchronization and will let know on the feedback.Thank you your responses

Default notes ini file

Try adding the following line followed by a return at the end of the notes.ini file on every Notes client.

Replicator_Sync_Unread=-1

This line will exchange unread marks between notes database replicas. This way should work in your mail and will be reflected in your blackberry.
