Default Bes works, but is spitting thousands of errors

Please Login to Remove!

So my BES is spitting out 50 thousand "Warnings" a day..

I've been thinking about making another clean VM image and setting everything up from scratch.. the only issue is the current BB's.. Do I need to reactivate every single one of them again? or is there an easier way so that service isn't interrupted??

Anyone know?

If you use a new DB you will have to reactivate everyone again.

What kind of warnings are you getting? It might be easier to try and resolve them.

What re the current specs:

BES Version
Exchange Version
Hardware
VM Version

BES version is 4.1.5, newest bundle (the DB is clustered so we'd probably be using the same DB.. unless it's the reason these warnings are happening..)

Exchange is 2003 sp2

Hardware is a Xeon 3.4ghz 1gig of ram, Win2k3 server with Sp2

VM is 3.5

Here's a taste of the warnings I'm seeing.. this is happening randomly to just about every user, daily.

These are Exchange conection warnings. Mostlylkely due to network or a busy Exchange server(s). 80004005 is a generic MAPI failure, not real reason behind it.

How many users and Exchange servers do you have? Any Exchange servers not local to the BES? Ping times for said Exchange Servers?

I have 550 user's on this 1 BES, and 4 virtual exchange servers. None of the exchange servers hosting mailboxes are on the BES server, they are in the same rackmount tho..

Ping times are all <1ms for all 4 servers..

So.. minus the errors.. If I setup a new VM image and install a clean BES.. do export/import the DB some how?

How can I get all 550 devices connected to that new BES? Will there be service interruption?

What you are doing is called a Knife-edge cutover. You install the BES on a new machine and move the DB.

The users will experince a slight service interuption due to the stopping and starting of services.

Search BlackBerry Technical Solution Center for knife edge or cutover. You will see the article for your version of BES.

Remember that the logical BES name must be the same. This is not the machine name but the name in the BB Manager.
