well, i find it funny that they show an image of BES 4.0 in the box, yet they don't even sell hardcopies of the software anymore (as of a few months ago, it was software delivery only).

Really? We're still selling them here, although that might just mean that sales through telco's are still boxed but direct sales from RIM are via software delivery only.

i've ordered both from RIM and through CDW and only software delivery is an option. i actually made a fuss about it on my last order because i needed the actual hard copy, but oh well (i have 2 hard copies, but needed one for our parent company's order).

Well I know for a fact that the telco I install for wouldnt sell customers software delivery. Besides, its always nice to have a box for your software to display on the shelf

Nextel gave us a really pretty BES box, complete with hard copies of 2 of BES's many manuals (I'd just as soon have searchable PDFs anyway, so that's OK). But the CD it contained, while labeled "BlackBerry Enterprise Server", was in fact BlackBerry Manager. The first of many bugs and broken provider promises! We ended up having to download the real BES setup at a blistering 50kbps or thereabouts from their FTP site.
