Default 8830 does not reconcile properly

Please Login to Remove!

I am the new (thrown in the deep end) BES admin at my workplace. I have been getting complaints that the BB is not reconciling properly. I have checked the settings for reconciliation on all the BBs and everyone is the same. Yet some are working fine and others, including myself are staring at messages that have either been deleted from Outlook or filed in a different folder. Reconcile is ON, Delete On: Mailbox & handheld, On Conflicts: Mailbox wins. I have the hide sent items set to YES and the Hide Filed messages set to YES.

I have selected the reconcile now option and no luck. I have resent the service book and no luck.

Any help would be grateful.

This should be in the Admin section, so if a Mod could move it, you'll get a better response. You should also post your BES version and mail platform.

On your question about deleted items, if you are using the Hard Delete (shift+delete) option in Outlook, you need to make sure you have 'hard deletes reconciliation' set to true on the BES. Same for the personal files - those are treated as a Hard Delete. So, check that setting and see if that helps. Do a search here for "hard deletes" for more information.

As for filed messages - how are you filing them - with a rule or manually? Is the folder you are filing them to redirected to the device? On my device, if I use a rule to file messages and the destination folder is redirected, then I will get that message in my Messages folder until it is opened. After it is opened, it is hidden.

Hope this helps some.

I am running BES 4.1.4 bundle 25 on a MS Exchange on Windows Server 2003 SP1.

The "Hard Delete" was done a few of the messages but not all. I am looking into the Hard Delete options to modify.

The filed messages are being dealt with manually. Nobody has rules set up at this time. I have tried folders inside and outside the inbox, same results.

I have enabled the Hard Delete option but it still does not fix the problem. Filed, Deleted and viewed messages are still appearing on the BB.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
Is there a fix?

Another thing to check keep in mind if you're finding seemingly random messages left on the BlackBerry that have been deleted in outlook is that messages deleted by other users who have permission to the mailbox (in my case it was the user's receptionist who manually filtered his junk mail) will not be deleted on the Blackberry. They have to be manually deleted.

I think this is because they go into the deleting user's deleted items box, and not the inbox's owner, if that makes sense.

Just thought I'd mention it, as I was having the same problem.

Yes, this is true. The Deligate View does not delete the way you think it will. Also, if you did just setup hard delete, you may not get reconciliation on the existing messages that are out of sync. (ie: Outlook no longer has the message in the deleted folder and the message is still on the BB - prior to setting up hard delete.)
Before you setup hard delete, all messages in the deleted folder are reconciled by the BES.
I am sure you looked but to be sure, make sure you have email reconciliation set to mailbox and handheld on the BB handheld.
