Default Activation problems

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having issues activating an AT&T on our BES server (4.1.3), it is the only unit on a different carrier, the rest are on Verizon. I can OTA activate a Verizon phone no problem, but the AT&T phone does the four tries at 10 minutes a piece before saying the server is not responding.

Any ideas?

Can the BB send/receive PIN messages? If not, then the carrier has not provisioned the BB correctly. Check that first, then search BlackBerry Technical Solution Center for enterprise activation. There is an extensive KB for troubleshooting EA issues.

First off, BES is carrier agnostic. You can mix carriers on a BES without any issue. Give these a look through ...

KB13852 - Identifying and troubleshooting enterprise activation issues
KB13458 - BlackBerry device continually shows Activating or Retrying during enterprise activation process

Thanks for the links, I'll go through those and I'll try to send a pin message tomorrow as well.

I'm aware that BES is not carrier specific, I was just adding that information to aid in troubleshooting that it my problem is carrier, or phone, specific.

Could you not assign the device by connecting it up to the server to see if it will activate that way.
I've done that in the past and then when trying to send an email I get the "service blocked" message and that's always quite good to have as your back up when calling the networks to ask them to change provisioning.
Sometimes you get through to someone that hasn't got a clue what you're talking about.

AT&T apparently provisioned it for "personal" and not "enterprise" and that was the problem. Thank you for all of your help, working now.

I found this out the hard way with a user as well. Do all carriers now provision based on personal and enterprise? In the past BB's could go either way, correct?
