Default Howto upgrade a SBE BES ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We have a customer with a SBE BES with 15 CALs.
He would like to add at least one CAL.

What can we do:

- is the upgrade towards a BPS possible ? (limited to 30 CALs)

- is the upgrade towards a full BES possible ?

Also, do you have an idea of the economic consequences of these solutions ?

Thankx.

Upgrade to full BES is the probably the easiest to do. All you need to do is buy the Upgrade Licence and add it into the Licence Manager. This will add 5 licences and remove the 15 user restriction. Downside is the cost, figure floating about on here is $2799.

Upgrade to BPS is possible, search on here for that very tiopic.

Yes, definitely upgrade to BPS, and more importantly, its free!

Just run the upgrade and it will upgrade SBS BES to BPS and also increase the CAL limit to 30.

Only after 30 users, do you want upgrade to the full BES.

In the long run, full BES would probably work best. BPS is not a "full" BES either, it may be free but you will lose some functionality.

But if you are certain that you will never hit that 30 user mark then go for BPS. The cost is a little high to add 1 user for a full BES.

The biggest piece of missing functionality we will miss if/when we upgrade to BPS to get past the 15 user restriction of our current SBE would be Enterprise IM. As a Domino shop we are just starting to roll SameTime onto the BBs.

Does IBM developerWorks : IBM Lotus Sametime Mobile not work as an alternative?

Sure you can't push it ... but you can host it locally and say "go git it peeps" ...
