Default Failed to create a folder in XXX mailbox

Please Login to Remove!

Dear all,

I have install and up run an exchange 2007 server, which is used to migrate for abc.xyz.com, all setup and ad were based on abc.xyz.com. And for testing, we are using temp MX record yyy.com for mailing testing.
The abc.xyz.com is still hosted in old server, not yet migrate, so the ex07 can only receive yyy.com mail now.

Yesterday, I started to install BES with ex07 server, the installation is straight forward and complete with no errors, however, I can't complete the wireless activation, even we can receive ETP.DAT mail in the user mail box (test3@yyy.com).

I've search around the log, and tried IEMSTEST.exe on command line also, I found that there is an error that

IEMSTEST error
"Failed to create a folder in XXXuser mailbox."

and in ALRT log
MAPIMailbox::CreateSearchFolder - Open folder failed (0x80070005) failed
MAPIMailbox::GetSearchRootFolder - CreateFolder(1) (0x80070005) failed
MAPIMailbox::~MAPIMailbox - DeleteAllDeviceSearches (0x00000000) failed
User XXX not started

is it the problem why I can't activate the handheld? anything I missed to do so??

or, is it casued by the domain name? as we setup the windows ad, ex07 and BES based on abc.xyz.com, but the IP not yet point to our server, we now only have temp maill MX record for yyy.com.

Can anyone help ? Super thx!!

Kenneth.

Permissions for your BESAdmin account are incorrect. That is the reason why the activations are failing and the also the reason why you are getting that error.

Check your permissions again and ensure that they are correct.

I was suffering the same problem with my 2003 => migration and it was only after very careful and methodical testing that I got it to work.

First, refer to:

BlackBerry Search Results

specifically, this command:

Quote:
get-mailboxserver Exchange2007 | add-adpermission -user <BESAdmin> -accessrights GenericRead, GenericWrite -extendedrights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin
After applying the command with your site-specific details, run:

Quote:
get-mailboxserver Exchange2007 | get-ADpermission -user BESAdmin | Format-List
and you should get a total of six (6) ADpermission settings (I had originally only gotten two which indicates to me that my first run at applying the settings from command line had not applied correctly).

Once that is confirmed, you will then be able to run IEMSTest.exe successfully.
