Exclamation Unable to Send/Receive - 07-10-2008, 08:27 AM

I am having similar problems. BES 4.1.4, users cannot send/receive email.

blackberry log:
logreceiver - failed to bind a socket
could not start the syslog receiver subsystem, exiting
stoppen blackberry agent controller

When I try to restart the blackberry controller service, this fails:
windows could not start the blackberry controller on local computer

Tried restarting server and BES server, this does not help.

Only thing that has change are two MS updates: KB951748 & KB951746 (MS08-037).

Any help appreciated....

This is an unrelated issue and should be in a thread of its own.

What does the ALRT / CTRL / MAGT log say? Post their contents.

Download and install latest version. If you are running BPS then install 4.1.4a. If you are running BES then install 4.1.5. Reinstalling the version you are currently running may work too, but if you are going to reinstall then you might as well install the updated version.

I have the same issue. Same version of BES and those two updates installed the same day (wed) the problem began.

Just uninstall the two updates (KB951748 & KB951746 (MS08-037)).

Reboot server, problem solve

Can you isolate it to one update or the other?

Default Same Problem - 07-18-2008, 10:52 AM

I was having the same problems with the new Microsoft updates (KB951748 & KB951746). I didn't test out which patch was causing the problem - I uninstalled both and restarted the server. But once the server restarted the Blackberry Controller service started working and information was starting to sync again.

Default Same Prob - 09-08-2008, 12:02 PM

I just downloaded the lastest version of BB Professional and had the same problem as soon as I installed both those updates. We have had this problem on Enterprise 4.14 and 4.15 as well since those two updates came out. Doesnt seem to affect all of our installations though.
