SoUnCool, where did you get MR4 for SP4? I went looking for MR6 and I only see MR1, 2 and 3?!?

The MR6 requirement is for Exchange, looking at the Prerequisites in the HotFix docs its one of the following for Domino:

4.1.3 HF2
4.1.4 MR3
4.1.5 with or without MR1

At present we have gone down the Workaround route and are going to wait and see who complains. Only 9 users though.

BES, 4.1.4 (Bundle 24), was SBE now full BES
Domino v7.0.2
Windows Server 2003, standalone

I don't see anything in the release notes for SP6 about fixing the PDF Vulnerability. Am i missing something?

What have i started here! ?

I'm at 4.1.4.15 - is that what the MR is, 15?

I'm very confused where the MR6 fits into things and if i'm at 15 then can i install the patch as it only sais you can if you are at 4.1.4 MR6

I might just give up and go to 4.1.6 and be done with it cause this is giving me a headache!

I just confirmed with RIM regarding my question on the prior page: The vulnerability fix, doesn't disable all PDF's just the malicious ones...

Everybody i've talked to at RIM says go to 4.16. I called Tsupport this morning, found out that the OutOfOffice fix is for 4.14mr4/mr5 probably shouldn't be used with mr6 - which does not have that fix, but does have a valuable calendering fix we could use. just not sure we can get all the fixes to play together on 4.14.

Default Workaround doesn't seem to block already-opened PDF's - 07-18-2008, 01:58 PM

Observed by opening an already-opened PDF after applying the workaround. The paper clip icon was still on it, and the Open Attachment menu item was available. I was able to open the attachment.

A newly arrived PDF (arrived after the workaround was applied) did not even display the paper clip icon, and the Open Attachment menu item was not available.

Research In Motion confirms that PDF's already opened before the workaround applied will still open but being that they're already cached on the handheld, they will not be using (or exploiting) the Attachment Service.

so is the workaround this

Livelink - Redirection

I am avoiding sp6 as of now since I have not fully tested in my DEV. Is the workaround good as far as regsitering the dll's and if so do you need to reboot the server

looks like it. You should still test it in you DEV first.

SP6 is much easier than the workaround.
Stop services, backup DB and registry, run setup and do a few clicks, wait like 10 min, rebbot and your done. YMMV

We are using 4.1 SP4 and I have applied MR6 for the security fix. registered the dll for the fix the attachment server gives an error that there is no BES found in the registry for the dispatcher service.
Does anyoe know why this would happen?

Thanks in advance.

holy crap, I'm on holidays from friday, come back today, and look what I find. I disabled the PDF viewing on the devices, and will apply 4.1.6 on Saturday.

Scary vulnerability.

Hi, we're running BES 4.1.3.16 with Lotus Domino. I put in place the workaround a couple weeks ago and today I've installed the 'interim security software update' and backed-out the workaround so pdf's are now being reconcilled.
I'm not able to open pdf's that were blocked by the 'workaround', does anybody know howto get them reconcilled so users can open them on their devices ???

thank you
