Thumbs down I give some informations about Resource Kit

Please Login to Remove!

Good morning,

I post here because i must to create 10 accounts in a Blackberry Server with the resource kit and i don't have any idea about the resource kit tool 4.1.4 or 4.1.5, what are the différences between this Resource Kits ?? -> I use Lotus Domino.

I have the BES Resource Kit 4.1.5 with lot of folders (Cutover Tool, Enterprise Server User Administration Tool etc...), in this folders i have a .exe to execute and i must to administrate in cmd.

Do you know another possibility to execute 21 .exe included in BES Resource Kit 4.1.5 in one application ?

If I am correct .. all that you want to do is to add 10 user account to your Bes Server using resource kit right ???

First you should check the BES Server version that you have. Because you need to maintain the BES, BRK compatibility for proper functionality.

If its 4.1.4.x version ..then you can use only BRK with version 4.1.4.x

So once you install BRK ..you just need to run BEsuseradminclient.exe with -add command..

As ujwols said, you're BESUserAdminService version and server major / minor version need to match.

You don't want the Resource Kit Analysis Tools, but rather the User Administration Service / Client tools.

Ok, I'll ask the obvious question (at least to me). What is the advantage to adding users using the BRK vs. just right clicking and doing 'Add User' from the BES Manager console?

Wouldn't it take longer to write the script than to just pick the users from the Address Book? You can pick and add all 10 at once...don't have to add one at a time.

You ScriptMonkey, you

For 10 people; ya ... but if you're building an application to automate this or have users perform self-service ...

I have used the BRK for this before a few times... Make a txt file with the following format:
smtp Address, BES Name

So for example the file would look like this:
[email address], BES001
[email address], BES001
[email address], BES001

Save the text file as userlist.txt and then run the following command once you have the
Admin client installed:

BESUserAdminClient.exe -p blackberry -add -i userlist.txt

Where "-p blackberry" is the password that you configured with the admin client.

That's OK ! i understand now. The BES Version of the compagny are 4.0.7, so i must to use a 4.0.7 BRK.

I have another project, i must to create a option who lock the BB acount of a user in a web interface realised by the compagny, the option name is Lock Handheld -> it was an option populary in BlackBerry Manager application. This web interface will be used to administrate users acount.

What kind of option i must use in BRK ? Kill_handheld ?

Thank you for your help.

There isn't anything specific command for locking handheld.
The only option you have here is to execute -set_password command.
On executing this command the handheld will be locked and could be unlocked only when you enter the password( the same that you have set).

Never execute Kill_handled it will wipe your device

Don't users get an option to reject the password or changes? I haven't used this often but I remember there being a question whether they want to accept a password change.
