Default FYI - SP6 Upgrade Issues

Please Login to Remove!

Most of you will know that you have to run the upgrade as the BESAdmin account to get it to install, unfortuantely being new to the product and asked to install it by my boss, no-one had made this clear. (Can you guess what happens?)

It seems, after talking to the helpfull dudes at o2 support, the Service pack is Supposed to stop you installing as administrator, or a.n.other random sysadmin account.

It doesn't Maybe after their rush to get the SP out into the wild they forgot something? I'm not sure. Though i am [at least 95%] sure I didn't miss soemthing as obvious as a "DO NOT DO THIS" dialog box.

Anyway, the upshot is you get tons of error 5302 have to stop all the services, change them back to useing {domain}\besadmin and restart them in services.msc

Now, i'm going for a lie down after that drama, hope this is helpfull for someone out there.

If you re-run upgrade/sp6 and logged on as besadmin you should be good again.
