Default Upgrade/Reinstall? going from BPS to BESE

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, while installing a blackberry server yesterday to add support for a few users to our OCS I ended up installing Blackberry Professional Server and not the Blackberry Enterprise Server Express Edition. How many issues will I end up having by trying to go from BPS to BESE?

Has anyone ever made this mistake and had to do this? Is their any upgrade paths?

you can goto full BES for 2700 or so.

Might be able to uninstall it and reinstall BESE and use the backup DB and registry(hopefully you did that part).

If that does not work then uninstall reinstall and wipe all users and add them back in.

Does OCS work with BPS? if yes I would not worry about it, only limits are with MDS.

From what I have been able to find is no it doesn't work with BPS. I get Service not enabled for this handheld. When comparing editions i see that Web-based IM is supported but not Enterprise IM.

I'm not too worried with my DB now, it only has my BB in it so no harm in starting over.

Any help would be great in getting this working.
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Professional Software

It looks like Express isn't even supported anymore but I was able to find a download link from RIM and get my registration info.

Neither BPS or BES Express are capable of integrating with OCS. Neither has support for any Enterprise Instant Messaging.

BPS is the next generation of BES Express. Going from BPS to BES Express would be a downgrade. I don't think you can even get BES Express anymore.

I did not know that, thanks for the information. I was able to find BES Express on Blackberry's site via Google Search and they did fulfill the order.
