Question BES Database Recommendations

Please Login to Remove!

Our organization is in the process of preparing for a large influx of new users to our BES environment (maybe 500 to 2k users). Currently, the BES database resides on the same box as the BES. Apart of designing a disaster recovery plan, I'd like to fully plan out moving the database to one of the database servers in our organization. Might you all have any recommendations on taking on such a task?

My initial impression is that the process would be fairly simple: On the current BES, disconnect the database, move the files over to the new server, attach the database files to the new database server and configure the BES to point to the database in it's new location. Are there items I have not considered here? Should I be making considerations in regards to permissions or the database notification system?

Also - has anyone moved their database off of MSDE 2000 to a fully licensed version of SQL? Were there any improvements in any way?

Thanks in advance folks.

Sorry - I may have posted this prematurely. Look what I just found ...

Either way, I'd love to hear your experiences on a similar matter.

Wirelessly posted

I've moved the database between servers a few times it's a simple as you think.

And there is a big performance boost with SQL over MSDE.
