Default Recreating BESAdmin account

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if anybody has run across this and successfully been able to recover from an accidental deletion of the BES Admin account.

We had an admin accidentally delete the besadmin user account. What's interesting is everything is still running fine, including all the services that are running under the besadmin account. I'm assuming this won't be the case after a reboot of the server. So my question is, can we just recreate the besadmin account and give it he same password and permissions, then have everything work ok...or am I looking at something more involved like reinstalling BES completely?

You should just be able to recreate the account and then assign proper permissions using this KB article as a guide.

Recreating the account won't work due to the account having different SID's.. Even though the account name is the same, it will have a different SID then the original.

I would think you'd have to follow the recreating service account doc. I'd link you the article but I can't post links yet, not enough posts.

Search for "How to switch BlackBerry Enterprise Server service accounts" on the blackberry support site..

ya that's the article I was looking at, but in step 8 it says you have to export the RIM folder from the registry of hkey_current_user, and since that account no longer exists I can't get to that registry entry to export it. Any ideas on how to get around that part?

I've never tried this before but you should be able to find the same key under HKEY_USERS, you just have to find the right SID that belonged to the deleted service account. It should have a bunch of entries under the Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterrprise Server key.

Also don't forget to change the export file from HKEY_USERS to HKEY_CURRENT_USER before you import again...
