Alright here is the problem.

I have an inter-tel phone system that forwards voicemail to email in wave format. We run Lotus notes 7.0.2 with BES version 4.1.4

Now, when i user gets the vm.wav file and they try to download it, they get an unknown error while trying to open vm.wav.

I referenced this article (Doc ID : KB13547) which i can not link cause i have 0 posts (wow thats annoying) and here are my findings,

When breaking down the .wav file, it is using a PCM audio codec 8000Hz 64 kb/s (1 chnl) which should not cause a problem with BES.

Now for the kicker, if the email is forwarded to someone on a different BES server, they can play the audio file fine.

The handheld is an 8830 world phone edition with software version 4.2.2 on it.

I am planning on installing BES 4.1.6 tonight unless anyone has more information.

hmmm if the BES can play the wav by the KB you posted that is a perfect reason to call RIM and get the case escalated to get that fixed.

What Build version of 4.2.2 are you running on the 8830? I think I recall there being issues with .wav files on the early ones. Upgrade to the latest handheld software (i'm guessing you're on Verizon) here: BlackBerry® Software Updates

Do .wav files through BES work on other non 8830 4.2 handhelds?

We also have an Inter-tel Axxess system that forwards vm's as .wav and we have no problems listening to them.

Currently running BES 4.1.5 for Exchange.

The mail system is Lotus Notes 7.0.2, if the message is forwarded to someone on Exchange, it opens fine. i'm thinking there is a notes issue with how the data is accessed.

The 8830 firmware is 4.2.2.176 however no users can listen to the wave file regardless of the phone.

I'm really thinking its lotus notes data store, its clustered so i guess i will go the IBM.

And the 4.1.6 upgrade didn't fix it, lol

Last part. the attachment test you sent me, only allows it to convert to .txt or ucs, not wav, would that matter?
