Default CALs and upgrading to BES question

Please Login to Remove!

We currently have BES Express and have hit our 15 user limit. We are thinking about going with full blown BES Enterprise, but how many CALs do we need to buy if any? Can we upgrade the BES Express install and transfer those CALs into BES or do we have to buy all new CALs with the BES Enterprise? If the CALs do transfer, is it possible to still use them if we want to do a clean install instead of upgrade when we move to Enterprise?

The upgrade fee from Express to Enterprise is a one time hit and it includes 5 CALS to bring you to 20. The existing 15 CALs are still valid.

I personally wouldn't bother clean installing myself since it's the same software - just the licensing changes - but they are transferable.

Our current install is on a vmware box, which I am not fond of. There is no usb port control to easily activate bb's and we are getting some weird errors and funky problems that i have not been able to even find anyone else experiencing.....

get BES PRO its a free upgrade and can have 30 users on it.

Only difference is MDS is limited, if you dont use MDS dont worry about it.

Upgrading from BlackBerry Enterprise Server xxx8211; Small Business Edition
If your organization already uses BlackBerry Enterprise Server xxx8211; Small Business Edition, you can upgrade for free to BlackBerry Professional Software. The process is the same as adding a service pack. Download the service pack now.

Hope they are willing to pay for it, if not PRO is second choice.

Another short fall with BPS is the lack of Enterprise Messenger, which in our case is a need so we will be expanding our SBE to full BES in the near future.
