Question Software config push with IT policy

Please Login to Remove!

Will a software configuration I setup still not push out to a device if an IT policy is in effect that blocks the install of a 3rd Party App?

I downloaded the Sprint/Nextel spell checker app and setup the software config. Even when it's set as the users software config, it won't get installed on the users device until I set them in the Default policy. Our standard policy blocks 3rd party apps from being installed (which this would obviously be), so I'm thinking that the device doesn't care that I'm administratively pushing the app, that because it's 3rd party at all it's getting blocked.

Am I correct here or is something else to blame?

Did you also apply a application control policy and have the disposition set to required?

correct, you will need to allow 3rd party in the policy for the push to work.

That was the fix! Thanks all!

One other question related to this...

Is there a way to speed up the time between the time that the BES queries the device for the current software configuration? I know that I can manually force a check by right-clicking the account and selecting Update Configuration Check Status, but it seems that the system doesn't even know to push the package until the Application Status shows Install Required and this doesn't happen until the device is queried. So is there a way to force the BES to query more often or am I stuck having to manually force this?

Thanks again!
