Default Problem with Internet Access

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I have a user who is encountering problems when trying to access the internet from her device. She is on our BES and can receive email fine along with text messages and phone calls. She has a strong GPRS signal, and the provider is Vodafone.

When she accesses the Vodafone Live browser, the Vodafone homepage loads but an error occurs when she tries to access other sites:

[pre]A communication failure occurred with the selected Mobile Data Service. The service may be busy, please try again later. If the problem persists contact your administrator.[/pre]

I've tried removing the battery and SIM etc. but nothing changed. I then re-sent te service books and IT policy. This seemed to work for around 10 minutes or so but then the same issue started happening again.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Contact your Voda support team, and give them the problem and sim or PIN number -- i have had a few issues like this, over the last few weeks, when upgrading users from old handsets like 7130 to 8100 and 8300.

Before doing a hard reset/reboot (pulling the battery), manually change the network to O2 or Orange, to force it off Voda, you'll get the usual SOS only calls message, then change it back to Voda and st back to auto -- this forces new GSM/GPRS links to Voda's network (i had one user getting emails and calls ok, and was 2 months without a network update).

Then delete the Desktop (CMIME) service book & Blackberry Internet Browsing Service. resend from the BES IT Admin menu. That should fix it. Pull the battery and check with Voda they have the internet service on their account. You can also dock the handset on users desktop or BES and update from Desktop Manager.

Apparently Vodafone are having an issue at the moment. Vodafone Live is not avaliable for some users. There is no pattern, it is random. They are investigating.

Thought I'd update this in case anyone else has a similar problem. The issue has npw been resolve. Unfortunately we're not sure what the problem was but I have a strongly suspect it the fault lay with Vodafone.
