I manage a BES for 20+ users. I have this collegue who is a salesman for our company (dep. Netherlands), he has aquired a free BB and wants to have his
corporate email (ours) on his BB. Now, he came over to Belgium with his BB for me to activate it. The first thing I noticed is that he's currently roaming on Base. I thought that it would mind so I started the activation but now it
seems I can't activate the BB. It hangs at "establishing network connection..."
Then giving me the error: "Request to activate failed. Network connection unavailable."

Could this be caused by the roaming?

Any help would be great!

is he seeing GPRS/EDGE or gprs/edge? If the latter try changing the network he is roaming on to get the upper case.

I had that issue a while ago, one user was travelling and he stopped getting mail, his BB was showing lower case so after talking him through serching for a new network all burst into life.

"edge" lowercase... I have 3 available networks for roaming, currently "Base" the other two are not allowed. (only emergency nrs) :(

Won't work. edge in lower-case means no connection to RIM's blackberry infrastructure. You won't be able to do an activation, or get any blackberry data service at all.
