Default Sync to someone else's calendar - 10-06-2008, 07:37 PM

So I've been beating my head against this wall for a while now, and I'm turning to you guys here.

We have the boss, Bob, and the assistant, Alice. Both have an Exchange account - e-mail, calendar, etc. Bob's calendar is absolutely packed with appointments, and it's Alice's job to get him to the right place at the right time. Both Alice and Bob have AT&T 8820 Blackberries (BB). Sally the secretary puts appointments onto Bob's calendar. Both Sally and Alice have owner (ie, full) permissions over Bob's calendar in Exchange.

The goal is to automatically get Bob's calendar onto Alice's BB, and get it so that when any change is made to Bob's calendar, it automatically appears on Alice's BB.

We are running Exchange and a BES, and individual workstations have Office 2007 and Desktop Manager (DTM) 4.5.

Currently, we have it set up so that Alice's Desktop Manager is set to do a wired sync to Bob's calendar. There are two downsides: Alice and Bob are frequently on trips, and so Alice can't sync when she's on the road; also, the DTM frequently 'forgets' the sync settings and reverts to wireless sync to her own calendar instead of Bob's. There's a thread here ("Calendar wireless sync enabled disabled" - I don't have enough posts to post a link to the thread) that describes this as a bug that RIM is supposed to fix, but there's no information for a fix in the thread.

As far as I can tell, there's two options:
-Figure out how to wirelessly sync to someone else's calendar (and from searching here, it doesn't seem like an option - unless it's in the new OS release?)
-Figure out how, if Sally the secretary adds an appointment to Bob's calendar, it automatically shows up in Alice's calendar - and then let the normal wireless sync process take over.

Worse comes to worse, I suppose we could make Sally an owner of both Bob and Alice's calendars, and just let her manually update Alice's calendar, but obviously, an automatic system would be nicer.

Like I said, I've been beating my head against the wall for quite some time now and am just sick of the wet squishy sound. Any help would be truly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

You can sync two calendars but you can only sync one OTA

maybe search the web for a 3rd party app.

I have NO , or data plan
BES 4.1.6 MR2, SQL 2005, EXCH 2003 SP2

Fadmin, do you mean just manually adding Alice to every meeting? That might work going forward, but Bob already has 2000+ appointments on his calendar. Manually adding Alice to all of them isn't going to be feasible.

3rd party apps are a no-go due to BES policies locking down everything pretty strict.

Well first manual sync his calendar (one way) with hers and then keep adding her to a new appts. I am sorry but would not know of any other way.
