Default BES4.1 - changed Exchange servers, now cant add new users

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all..

Awesome forum that I have been spying for months and now I need some help if you can.

I have BES4.1.

I moved all users to a new exchange server and shutdown my old exchange server. Everything works (thanks to this forum) as far as mail and sync to devices.

The problem:

1. BES is still trying to email me through the old server with alerts.
2. When I try to add a new user it says it can not connect to the Exchange server computer so I assume somewhere its still pointing at the old server.

Please help, this is a production environment.

Much appreciated.

Is this new Exchange server in the same Exchange Org as the old? Presuming so, you may need to update BES by running the handheld cleanup command, Handheldcleanup.exe -U.

It is in the same org, same version, same ver os, etc..

I ran the handheld util and will see how that goes and update.

if anyone has any other ideas let me know! thanks.

Have you verified that the BES service account has the proper permissions set in regards to the new Exchange server?

permissions are fine... they were already defined and automatically apply to the new server. mail is flowing fine.

the handheldcleanup seemed to fix adding users, that now works.

last piece is the BLACKBERRY MESSAGING AGENT is still trying to send me alerts through the old server.

I cant find anywhere to update that.

ok..

I think its all fixed.

I shut down all exchange services but the virtual smtp server was still running on the old exchange server. I shut that down and then BES sent its messaging agent mail thru the new one because I actually received it last night!

sooooo... looks like if you the virtual smtp server is running on an exchange server even if there are no more mailboxes on it, BES still holds a messaging agent for it.
