Default how fast unread/read marks reconcile for Domino BES users?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Can someone advised me - how fast unread/read marks reconcile for Domino BES users? i.e. between handheld and mail database? Is there any setting to quicken the process?

Thanks!

I typically tell my customers it's close to a 30 minute delay, however I support 5000 users so that adds to the delay,w hich I believe on average is closer to 15 minutes, it depends on how many changes you makeas the device will wait until it has a number of updates to make before sendign to save battery life.

You can also use the reconcile now option in the Messages Menu.

I am not sure if there is a policy setting that can change this, speak with your BES admin or if you are the admin try RIM 877.255.2377

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7510/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

The docs say in Dominio BES the unread/read marks do not sync at all.

The unread marks definitely sync if you have all the right settings set and have all the proper versions. It just takes time.

Yes they do mark read/unread with the correct versions. This was an enhancement with 4.0 BES I think running with 6.5.x Domino. There is a polling period that it checks for these changes and I think by default it is 30 min. But there are many factors that could make it slower or faster. We have seen a number of "gliches" in the read/unread msgs but for the most part it works pretty well.

<rant>
Why are people (read - BB USERS) so anal about how "fast" something like unread marks synch? Good grief - if you're close enough to your computer to see if they are synched then you should be able to remember what you read!!

I will second that actually. personally i think 15min for reconcile is fine, otherwise the user can be shown where the force reconcile option is

Default Is it dependant on Service Pack

I am on service pack 1 with HF1 & HF3. Several of my users have proved to me that their unread marks are not synching properly. Somewhat embarrasing when you have to tell them you are still investigating (every time).

Platform is BES for Domino 6.05 on win2k3.

Mostly unread marks is fine but a few definitely go all over the place.

I am shortly upping to SP2 to fix the APB's issue and am hoping it will improve the unread marks synching as well.

As for 30 mins for unread marks, my freinds users worry if things don't appear to work immediately, that's the way they are, education as usual is the key.

Peterm - We have one of our divisions that have this issue as well. I think it may be the way that Domino is setup for them versus the rest of our divisions though. I have not been able to prove this but they are the only users that seem to have this problem semi-consistently. And they are also the only division that has a little different Domino setup than the rest. Just a theory but when I get enough time to investigate I hope to find out if this is true of not. There are alot of factors involved in this working so it may take process of elimination.
