Default GroupWise BES Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else has come across the following situation:

We are currently Running:
BES 4.1.6, with a GW 7.02 HP Client Running on the server.
Our Groupwise Server is 7.03, and is communicating with the BES in OAPI mode. I have asked our GroupWise admin to enable SOAP, so that we can move to the 7.03 client, which is recommended in the BES manual. He replied back to me and said soap is enabled on ALL post offices (we have 5 of them), using ports: 1790 to 1794.

Here's the million dollar question since I don't recall support for inputting different ports for multiple post offices, when choosing the SOAP GroupWise Server Connection Mode. Does anyone else have users on multiple POAs which run SOAP on a different port, and were you able to get it to work with the BES? (IE did you just point it to one of them?)

Thanks,

well, I didn't think I was on the bleeding edge here (well, there are certainly a lot of problems due to arcaneness of GroupWise). I have done some research that has led me to believe that this should work, and I will update this post with my results in the near future.

schiu28,

I just updated to 4.1.6 a couple of weeks ago. Like many others, the database upgrade failed because I was running a SQL 2000 db. I decided to move to a SQL 2k5 box because we are planning to get rid of the SQL 2000 box anyway. It does not matter if all of the POs are on the same or different SOAP ports, just make sure you specify the correct SOAP Port for the PO that you are pointing the BES at.

I also want to make you aware of an issue I ran into when changing to SOAP mode from OAPI. All of my devices that were running 4.2.1.96-4.2.1.119 handheld code all had corrupted 'Folder' and 'Folder ID' databases on the handheld, which caused all messages to come in looking as if they were filed. If they opened the messages on the handheld, users could not delete them. I am having to manually connect them to Desktop Manager and clear those 2 databases from the handheld and let them resync from the server. This is rather painful. I have not seen this happen on any devices below that code or anything above it, but RIM just tells me to update to 4.5 if possible, otherwise, clear the database...which isn't really fun to do for over 100 devices that are mostly remote users.

Default thanks TruckinwithBBs

thanks for the update TruckinwithBBs... I like the saying: if something isn't broke, then don't fix it!! Why can't we learn from such things? It seems 4.1.6 has been pulled from the download site due to problems with this update.

I shall elect to stay in OAPI mode until they have ironed things out.
