As part of our DR solution, we need an "alternative" way of alerting all users on our BES if there is a network outage & we can't connect to our BES.
It's been suggested by our network carrier, O2 UK, that if we give them a list of the SIM IDs of all users on our BES, they can send a message on our behalf via SMS.
Therefore we need to be able to export a list of the names & corresponding SIM ID of all 376 users on our BES v4.1.5.26 Domino 7.0.2FP2 server.
I have just discovered that 183 out of 376 users on BES have the SIM ID number in the SIM ID column, and 193 have no SIM ID number.
I have found out from O2 UK that there are apparently "issues" with the BES either not reporting the SIM ID or incorrectly reporting the SIM ID if the BB OS is less than v4.2.2.
I was then advised by O2 UK that we'd need to recall all 193 pre-v4.2.2 OS BB's & manually upgrade them. These BBs are all over the world & to recall them etc would be a logistical & resource nightmare which we can't do at the moment. It's such a shame that currently OTA OS upgrades aren't possible
What puzzles me (and O2 UK!) is that this issue also happens on 83xx series BB's on our BES with OS v4.2.2 and higher, and also on several Bolds with OS v4.6.0.134
Another issue is that on the BES, the SIM ID column is not present in the exported statistics or asset summary even though this column is visible in the Users window of the BES!
Has anyone come across these issues before? If you have, how were you able to resolve them?
Thanks in advance.
