Default Adding new attachment types?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a feeling this has been asked before, but my search didn't find anything. I'd like to add a new attachment type that I can have users open on their handhelds. It's just a text file, generated from a closed system with a specific filename.

I figured I'd just go into the attachment server properties and add the extension, and tell it what to do with that extension (basically do whatever it does with .txt files). While I can add an extension on the "Connector Configuration" section, when I go to the Attachment Server section and try to add it with the txt type, I can't modify it. I (dangerously, I'm sure) went into the registry and modified the reg entry for the "LoadTextDistiller" Extension field (and restarted the Attachment service, just in case it needed that). But when I get one of these files on my blackberry, "Open Attachment" isn't an option.

Is it possible to add file types to the attachment service?
