We have recently Installed Blackberry Enterprise Server. Soon after the installation we noticed that the SQL ReportServer service had stopped.

The BES install went fine and is using sql 2000 on the same server as it is installed. This server also runs reporting services from SQL 2000 for the internal web site.

I am wondering how blackberry could have possibly effected this service?

The server is running 2003 SP1 and we get the following error:

You have an Access denied error, so you need to check the rights on your SQL database. Check also if you can logon local to your SQL server.

The sql database still works fine. It is just this one Reporting Service that does not work.

Unfortunately I dont have access to these systems at the moment but I was wondering if it is possible that blackberry has caused the problem?

if the ReportServer service is being run as a certain user, and that user does not have permissions to the SQL database, then *ding*. from the error, i would agree with BBLinks... check the permissions. SQL can work just fine and other services CAN have permissions issues when trying to connect to it.

I have spoken with one of the guys on site. He has created a new User account with the necessary permissions and this has resolved the problem. It seems that somehow Blackberry has effected the permissions on the service account as it show in event viewer that the service stoped straight after the blackberry software was installed.
