Alright ive been searching this forum for a while now..and cant seem to find a straight forward solution..

I just got BES...starting to understand how it works!!!

Heres my issue.

On Outlook 2003 i configured rules to take certain emails and file them in a folder..

Once i get them on my bberry, i can view folder and see its in the right folder...but the "filed" icon is not active..even when i reconcile..

do i need to open Outlook first to make this work..or it should automaticlly work...

Basically my question is: When the rules says to file when recieved...shouldnt it do the same thing one i recieve it on bberry?

If it gets filed on Outlook..it should do the same on my bberry right? (and mark as filed)

are they client rules or server rules.

they all seem to be server rules..if they are client rules, it would be written next to the rule.

ok i called Blackberry and this is what there telling..i have no clue if there right.

Settings on my bberry : Hide filed emails.

When automatic rules are created to file the email to the folders, you will always see those emails on ur blackberry...in the folder..and in ur main message box.

When u manually file a email in a folder, you will only see it in the folder on ur blackberry!!!

Does this make sense..i wanted to simplify my life..i guess its not possible!!!

Is there a program i plug on my bberry to take care of the automatic filing on my bberry when the messages arrive?

bump, i'm interested in this too. I have quite a few rules running server side and would rather be able to just reconcile and they go to proper folder on the handheld. i HATE a cluttered main box on the handheld so i might just be going back to "delete on handheld" though if it's a wireless synch i shouldn't have to anymore.

BES monitors a given set of folders for redirection and with 4.0 code that default is Inbox and Sent. In order for redirection to occur BES must see the message arrive in the set of folders that its monitoring. With server-side exchange rules, the message never arrives in the inbox, its immediately moved to the destination folder. If BES is not monitoring the destination folder, the message is not redirected. The quirk is that if BES is monitoring that destination folder the message is not flagged as filed on the handheld when its redirected. I'm not certain of why this is, perhaps this will change in a subsequent release. When you execute a move from the Inbox in the Outlook client BES receives a notice from Exchange that the move has occurred and makes the necessary changes to the message on the handheld.

There aren't any filing rules available on BES, only redirect/don't redirect and alert.
