My user complain about having a lot of arrows going up and down on the top right hand corner of his handheld, he is concern on his GPRS costs if this keeps happening. The log shows a lot of OTAFM...

Hello,

same here. 3 of our users experienced the same problem and you know what, they even exceeded to their monthly allowable plan because of the GPRS consumption. I think we can't do the enterprise activation since our BES is 2.2 and our device is version 3.6. any suggestions?

CoolM have you tried the above?

Use auto on/off for the users devices so it is not consuming GPRS when not in use.
When they are in areas of low coverage flick the wireless off as the device will just keep searching for a network and sending packets out to try and latch on to the apn, this will also save a bit of battery life.

It is set under options. Auto on/off lets you set a time for your device to power off then power back on. I use it to automatically power off my device at night when I go to bed and automatically power back on when I wake up.

Just move to service pack 4,5 or 6 for 2.2 and then upgrade.

With you transmitting issue, you might also want to check/remove any third party software. We had an issue with Wallace Incident Communicator that was transmitting nothing to the blackberry every 33 seconds. Recycling the WIC server generally resolved it, for a while....

Thanks BerryGuru!

Correct if im wrong:

1\ i should backup the BES folder under research in motion
2\ install sp3a then 6a without shutting down the domino server
3\ run the upgrade software
4\ automatic migrate the users

thanks.
