We have 1 main BlackBerry server with 2 Xeon 3.2Ghz processor and 3GB RAM supporting 450 users. When we ran 4.0 SP1/Hotfix3 the server would average a CPU utilization of 10%. After we upgraded to 4.0 SP2/Hotfix2 we are average 80% CPU utilization.

The odd thing I'm not having any issue with the Alert log. The Alert logs looks like it got smaller since the upgrade.

what os version are you running ? and what domino version?
we have a dom6.5.4 and 2003 with Services Pack and BES4.0.2 without any Problems.

Still seeing this? If so, what version of Domino?

I am also running Dom6.5.4FP1, Win2003 and BES 4.0.2 with 300+ users/server and no problems.

I'm running Windows 2003 (NO SP1) with a slew of hotfixes and Domino 6.5.2. Maybe it's time to upgrade to Domino 6.5.4.

there are several issues with your combination. try to upgrade to W2003 SP1 and at least Domino 6.5.2 FP1

The problem turned out to be a pruning thread stuck on a state database. RIM had me disable the user from the server, make a replica of his state database, run fixup updall -r and compact -c verse the new replica, replace his original state database with the replica (make sure you keep the same file name) and re-enable the user.
