Is there a way if a Blackberry device is conntected to a BES that it can access company network folders to retrieve files or browse file folders?

Nope, not until BES 5.0 and O/S 5.0 come about.

you could create a web based front end if you had a set file(s) you wanted users to be able to download and browse from the BB browser, but no network file explorer as such.

Back in the day... Banyan Vines had a web interface that would call to the File Store and show you the files available for viewing/download on a Web Page. Now, I'm no VB/Web Design expert, but I'm sure some smart Wipper Snapper could make something in a jiffy!!
