I have managed to install a second BES on our network. One is a BES 3.6 and the new one is a BES 4. BES 4 looks nice ;).... Using 2 different SQL servers.
During the installation i got an error: Warning:Unable to load cod.dll ...
I did regsvr32 the cdo.dll prior installation....
I ignored the error and continued with the installation. The server was installed and i was able to add a user (myself). I send an email from the BES manager to myself and that worked fine . As well Generated a new password .
Then i tried to Activate a blackberry using wireless and of course no luck... The screen says retrying..
I think that issue might have to do with the firewall so i have requested for the security team to open port 3101 and DNS.
But is the cdo.dll something to worry about and is the activation something else than a firewall port block (will have to test once the port is open)
Hmm another thing i noticed is that it is not using its ip address but it is only using the loopback port 3101... I tried telneting to the ip from the internal network and it is not working. I can telnet using localhost on the server itself.
Any ideas why is it using localhost and not the IP of the server?
I am continuing talking to myself :D but just to let you know my inbox has been receiving emails from rim but the BES is still initialising. I have read other posts and will continue reading. :D
Just sounds like cdo wasnt in the system32 directory which is normal with exchange 2003. bes will use cdo whereever it is registered, the install expects to find it in win/system32.
