Default Deletion of Inactive users from the Blackberry Server.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'm wondering if there is a way to detect users on the Bes server that no longer have an active mailbox in Exchange. And then automate a way to remove the users from the Bes thereby freeing up licences? At the moment,
it's a manual process to go through and remove the accounts we know are no longer active on Exchange.
Is this possible to do?
Cheers
Michael

What i usually do is reboot the BES and then check the logs in like an hour.

If you see the error "User not started" then these could be disabled or deleted users on the Exchagne Server.

NOTE: It could also be a permissions issue or a communication problem with Exchange. Document below will touch on that also.

Another error that you might see if the users are gone off of Exchange is 8004011d. This might also be a false positive so ALWAYS check the exchange account before deleting the account off of the BES .

Default Remove User from BES 3.6.3.15

OK users have been long gone and now it's time to finally remove them from the BES server. However upon doing the remove user you get the standard error failed to access to mailbox and it fails and doesn't remove the user.

what are the steps if any one knows to remove the user? i have been looking everywhere i can't beleive it would be terribly difficult..

I have stopped all services and started and also rebooted.. no difference.

any one?

Logon to server. Open BlackBerry Manager. Look in the MAGT logs for the users who are showing an error message next to them (unable to open mailbox). That's the easiest way I know of.

...on a side note, might want to implement a policy for the termination/separation/human resources/employee relations/exit notifications (whatever your term is for those people) departments to start sending you these notifications in order to remove them at the time of departure rather than later on.

Default I know about the logs...

I know which ones it is i see them in the logs... this is a non-profit i do charity work for and they delete the users out of AD but forgot about the BES server, thus user still exist and they can't be deleted by going to BES admin and remove user... *no mailbox error* i have not been able to find a way to manually remove the user from the BES server so they no longer use a license, or hell just to remove them from the list...

the logs tell me they don't exist..... but i want to WACK them from bes console... any one?

Update to the latest Service Pack and it fixes the issue with not being able to remove them post-deletion in AD (actually it was fixed in SP3 or so, if I'm not mistaken, but I'd suggest installing the latest SP).
