Default RUnning two BES server in the same domain/XCh organization

Please Login to Remove!

I am creating a new virtual BES server. We do not want to use the database from the current old server.
I want to build a new BES, configure it with the same CALS, SRP identifier and authentications keys.
Can I run both servers at the same time until I make sure the newest one is running fine? I will then remove BES from the old server after verification.

If not, I have this other action plan:

PORT 3101 must be open.

1. Install Virtual Server win2k3 for Blackberry Server. SERVER NAME: PCSRV008
2. Install IIS
3. Install XCH 2007 MAPI TOOLS
4. Install MDAC
5. Install .NET FRAME
6. Remove test user (Alberto) from current old BB server (pcsrv007)
7. Wipe handheld for test user
8. Turn off Blackberry server services at the Office
9. Install Blackberry enterprise server 4.1.4 and BB upgrade on new Virtual Server
10. Add test user, test send and receive.
11. Upon successful test, turn off services on new BB server
12. Turn on BB services on PCsrv007
13. Remove all users. Have users wipe their handhelds
14. Turn off BB server pcsrv007
15. Turn on BB services on new BB server
16. Add users
17. Test send and receive

Any suggetions would be appreciate it.
Thank you

No, you can not run the same SRP on 2 servers at the same time.

Your second action plan looks like the way your going to have to go.

I'm pretty sure you can use the Trial SRP for this. Grab the trial from the RIM website and use that to get your new box up and running and do your tests. When you are ready to move it to Production, you can shut down the services on the existing BES and enter the Production SRP on the trial box.

I only skimmed your plan and it confused me a bit (it's Monday!) but just ensure that you never have two machines running BlackBerry services using the same SRP at the same time, and all is generally good.
I was a BES and Exchange admin once.
Then my world turned Blue.
