Default Multiple software configurations

Please Login to Remove!

I've just created a software configuration on my BES.....my first one....I can't believe I haven't done it until now

I'm pretty sure this can be done but just thought I'd double check; I create and push out several different configurations to my users right?

...also.....what does it mean when the configuration status is "unknown configuration"
Is that because it still hasn't been received by the device?
(does it still take up to 4 hours?)

Sorry....i was obviously too impatient....the status has changes to "install required".....even thought the applications seem to have installed on the device.
Odd.

I have a couple of users though who on the Software Config Status tab is displayed as "request received"......what does that mean?

The 4 hours wait is still there but you can force an immediate status check by right-clicking and selecting

"Update Configuration Check Status"

on a particular user. You can also deploy an app immediately by selecting

"Deploy Applications"

ah OK...yes that worked for mine; I was pushing Google Maps to my device....
It still requires some "user interaction" before it can be installed.....is that normal?

What would I do if I wanted no user interaction and I just wanted it to install it automatically without the user having to press anything?

Also....I'm still getting "request received" for a couple of the users who I assigned a different software config to.
In fact i assigned it to a group and the other 7 members of the group have received and installed it fine.
The device was last contacted only a few minutes ago.
Just tried to do the update config but still the same.
Any ideas?

What do you mean by "user interaction"? What messages does the user get? Is it about application rights/permissions? If so, you can avoid them by using application policies.

yes...it's about rights/ permissions.....
I'll have a closer look at the policies.......

Also, do you know if I can have more than one software configuration pushed to the users, is that possible?

For example I created one that only had Google Maps ticked and another one that had another application.....
The other application was pushed to the Sales group but i also want to push Google Maps to only some of the Sales people.
Is it possible to assign both the configs to those users?

Why not have two software configuration? One would push Google Maps and the sales application while the other configuration would only push the sales application?

No, this is not possible. But you can create a config with both apps in and one with only one app in.
