switching from BIS to BES/Activation problem
I just sucessfully installed a test BES for one of our customers and now I am trying to perform an enterprise activation.
However, I don't seem to be able to succeed because after sending out the activation password to the device and entering the password in the enterprise activation wizard, the device waits for a couple of minutes and finally quits the procedure with a "Server is not responding" message.
I've read many posts regarding this issue but unfortunately I don't seem to the able to solve it ...
The test device I have is currently registered for BIS, so my best guess would be that BIS conflicts with BES. Is that true?
The carrier has provisioned the test device to also do BES, at least they are already charging for it.
So any ideas how to further debug this issue?
First thing I can offer is to get back on to the carrier and tell them they are wrong and the SIM isn't correctly provisioned for BES. Ok so maybe it is but usually this is the fault so I would always err on the side of blaming them until they have confirmed it on a couple of separate occasions. Virtually every post like this is down to the provisioning and the carrier just has to be hounded till they admit they messed up (or don't but fix it anyway!).
a late answer - a late solution
just for the sake of archeologists that once dig out this thread:
after repeatedly calling the provider's service line for more than 3 months they finally admitted that they had indeed not activated the device for BES ... aaaaaarghhhhhh!!!!!
After they provisioned the device for BES everything was setup in less then 10 minutes ...
When in doubt, have them remove the BES plan and then put it back on. This way if they say it is on they have to remove it ... and then add it. Works every time.
