BES IT Policy BES 4.1.6 MR3 with Exchange 2007 Sp1 I have been testing a new policy which has device passwords configured. We would like to deploy the policy to all executives with sensitive company data, my problem is that now i cannot remove the policy from my device, i have even reactvated and added the default policy back with no joy... Can anyone help? |
Should be a case of just sending the IT Policy back to the device, unless the new policy forces the password to be disabled, then you will have to disable the function yourself in the menus. |
And if that doesn't work... Does you device confirm that it's getting the policy (Options>Security>General I think, from memory)? Create a copy of the default poolicy, send that to the device and see what happens. |
Done that, on the device it says it has the defualt policy (no password) but still locks the device...anything else i can check? thanks |
And you tried just disabling it on the BB like skyman said? Sounds like the policy is fine but the handheld just needs to have the password switched off. Are you saying that switching it off on the BB results in it being enabled again some time later? |
ok so where do you disable it on the handset? |
Options - Security - General |
Hey David...am i missing something... under general settings> Content Compression = Enabled Content Protection = Disabled Strength = Strong Include Contacts = NO Then below i have the default policy....I have now even deleted the test policy from the BES without no joy... |
On both the 8700 i am using via USB, v4.5 and an 8120, v4.3, there are two options above the Content Compresion. I have Password, with various options and then "Lock Handheld Upon Holstering". Which HH and which OS are you using? It may help someone else who picks up this thread. |
sorry...i should have added that BOLD with OS 4.6.0.244 Plaform 4.0.0.203 |
OK, they have obviously played musical chairs with the menu items. It will be on there somewhere, i just don't know where. |
Good old RIM, but to be fair it's even more obvious now!! Options>Password |
OMG....Thanks....that worked...now i can present and show the benefits... thank you all.....sometimes one work on a problem far too long to notice the obvious ;-) |
