Red face Exch SP2 before BES SP3 - What to do now

Please Login to Remove!

All, messed up and installed Exchange SP2 before installing BES SP3. Now users cannot send e-mail outside of domain. Internal e-mail works fine as does receiving mail. BES server is Build 4.0.1.7. Questions: 1) anyone have any experience with installing BES SP3 after Exchange SP2 - will that correct my outbound e-mail issue? Since I inherited the BES server, I'm not sure what build 4.0.1.7 corresponds to: BES 4 SP1 plus a hotfix?. Are BES Service Packs cumulative? Thanks for any and all help!

To answer part of your question:

Yes the service packs are cumulative. You are at BES4 SP1 right now, im not sure if the 7 is the base service pack or a hotfix, but you can check at blackberry.com, but it doesn't really matter. Im not sure if upgrading to SP3 will fix your outside email issues as I am more of a Domino guy ;)

We installed SP2 on a test server 2 weeks prior to upgrading to BES 4.0 SP3. We experinced no issues with mail, appointments or anything BB related. Test box was on 4.0 SP2.

Upgrading Exchange in production enviornment 2 days before SP3. Upgraded to SP3 on the BES and still no issues.

i'd say the obvious choice of action would be to contact RIM, but thats just me.

You guys ROCK! Thank you so much for the help. As it turns out, I really caught a break as we are also running Outlook Web Access, when I update that server last night with Exchange SP2, Blackberry outbound mail magically came back on line. All other Blackberry services remained online. All the same, thanks again for the help! I'll post again after I install BES SP3 to let everyone know how it goes when installing Exchange SP2 first.
