Default Moving users across BESs

Please Login to Remove!

have 2 BESs, both using the same database located on the 1st BES.

I have the option to move users to the 2nd BES but the srp info on the unit doesnt update to the new server so units arent getting emails.

Ive read the rim documentation and this is the seamless way to do it. Any ideas why it doesnt. Dont want to move anyone over and have them all require user re-activation

Is the second one running with no errors?

Did you enable TCP/IP and Named Piped on MSDE?

no errors. 2nd works fine, i just have to re-activate when i move a user back'n'forth.

I've never had to do any enabling in MSDE before, how do i check this?

When you move a user do you see an event on the BES that the BES is switching SRPs (on the device)? If you do, that's not geting through. If you don't I think that's the issue we need to hunt down.

I don't use MSDE so can't help on the stuff knotty said, if you have a GUI for it I can point you in the right direction but i think MSDE is all command line.

not sure which section in event viewer it should appear in but looking through them all, nothing.

Any free MSDE gui's? I have trial of MSDE Manager

Ta

actually its very slow on activating, getting the RIM network email

ah thats because its doing that thing again where it picks up an email alias rather than the main address

When I change SRP ID on a BES this gets logged for each user. I don't have the same setup as you but would assume you should see the same when moving a user and the SRP ID needs changing.

I would imagine you can use SQL 2005/8 Express's Manager to manage MSDE databases, but I've never tried since I use SQL 2005 Express over MSDE anyway.
