We are using Groupwise with our BES. I have a report of a user that received a message that was never meant for her to see. It showed up on her BB, but she never saw it in Groupwise.

This one has me stumped. Any ideas? Even some troubleshooting steps would be welcome.

Are you positive it was an email? Maybe it was a PIN message or SMS message that was sent to the wrong address.

Maybe the sender sent the message to her by mistake and then retracted it. This would delete it out of her GroupWise mailbox, but the message would remain on her BlackBerry.

Exclamation

I have more info.

We were able to reproduce the problem.

If I send a Groupwise phone message, the message shows up on her Blackberry with the right subject, but with the body from a completely different message!!! The message was from and to completely different users. This is a huge security issue! Any ideas?

What version of BES are you running?

That is very interesting. I am running the same version and same GW client and I've never run into this issue.

Do you have a T-Support contract with RIM?

I know they are planning on releasing MR3 next month. I don't know if it will fix your issue. If you have a T-Support contract, I would give them a call.

On the phone with RIM right now.

This seems to be specific to Groupwise "phone messages" (as in file>new>phone message). I'm not sure how many users we have that actually use that form of message...I know I dont. I tried it this AM as a test and my "phone messages" were never even received on the receiver's BB.

Let us know what RIM tells you. I'm interested in this. In the meantime, I am going to mess around with phone messages myself.

Question

Well, still no news from RIM, but I rebooted the BES for some windows patches this AM, and now the user says she doesn't get "phone messages" at all which is the behavior I observed when I tested it in the office.

Does anyone else receive GroupWise "phone messages" on their BB?

I've been sending them from the PC client and receiving them on the BlackBerry fine.
