Question Enterprise Activation via Desktop Manager (not OTA) O

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have tried doing OTA activation for a user but it did not have any success, so I am attempting to perform the activation via Desktop Manager.

I added the user on the BES and did not set or generate an activation password.

I have also installed Desktop Manager on the user's laptop and went through the whole process of moving the mouse around for generating the key. no luck.

Can someone please help me perform enterprise activation via Desktop Manager. OTA is really not working and I am the only person left in the company who needs to get this working.

TIA!

-James

This would not work as DM activation happened only when the device is already activated with the same mailbox.Try a cradle activation through the server annd see if it helps.

Are you sure the correct data plan is provisioned on the line?
It needs to be an ENTERPRISE BlackBerry Data Plan.

Yes it does have the correct data plans. This is an existing user. He was accidentally deleted from the server and now it cannot sync. We tried OTA activation, received the encrypted email from BES, and it just hangs.

I remember a few years ago, I performed an activation on the Desktop Manager. It involved moving the mouse around to generate something.

Pls help!

What error message did you get when it did not activate OTA??

I have done over a dozen OTA and they all worked fine....

A cradle activation - I think - is connect the device to the BES via USB.

stuwhite is right check the logs - sounds like something is hanging it up. What % does it get too...

I had some like that and I would just activated them by connecting them to the BES.

I have a test user I use to ensure it's nothing funky with the user that I sometimes activate via BES - it's practically an empty mailbox with one contact in it. If he activates, then I know it's the user.

Yeah good call, I've got one of them. OP if you can't make a test user just activate a user not on the BES who you can tell to ignore the RIM email. That is the way our carrier always tests activations .
